After two years in the United States, Richard Kenfack Metangmo has armed himself with a degree from the SCTCC Water Environment Technologies program and is ready to help his home country of Cameroon after getting a few more years’ experience here in the US.

Getting a scholarship has really helped me. I had to give up my job due to COVID, so having the scholarship has definitely helped pay for some of my schooling.

For those who wanted to switch careers, SCTCC was ready to help students get started, and two students in the Medium/Heavy Truck program shared why they chose to come here.
After Electrolux in St. Cloud closed, about 750 long-time employees had a couple options: find another job or get started on a career change.

I came here to be on the top. I will always ask. And I will always use what they give me to be successful. So being in America is really great for me. I’m still learning, and I will learn, learn, learn.
Khady came to the US in 2016, leaving her family and 2-year-old son in Burkina Faso, Africa, for the opportunity that America held. With her first language French, she came with a 25% understanding of speaking English and only knowing one person.
