The Mathematics Transfer Pathway program at SCTCC helps students develop logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking skills to form a basis for success in their future academic endeavors and careers.

Mathematics is a useful undergraduate major for students who are not only planning on going into the field of mathematics, but also for students planning on pursuing higher-level degrees such as law school and medical school. A mathematics degree from SCTCC can even help students in business, finance, and insurance.

At SCTCC, we know that students have various interests along with academic and career goals. That’s why we have designed our program to benefit students in our mathematics program to support their interests and goals. 

Mathematics is a useful undergraduate major for students who are not only planning on going into the field of mathematics, but also for students planning on pursuing higher-level degrees such as engineering, law school, and medical school. A mathematics degree from SCTCC can also help students in business, finance, and insurance.  Starting a mathematics degree at SCTCC allows students to form a foundation for a bachelor's degree at a much lower tuition rate and learn from instructors who offer a more personalized classroom experience.

From Degree to Career

When you choose the Mathematics Transfer Pathway degree at SCTCC, you’ll save money on your generals before transferring to get your bachelor's degree.  When a student completes their AA degree along with the Mathematics Transfer Pathway their entire Calculus series of classes will be complete. A student will be able to start Junior and Senior level mathematics courses at their four-year institution. 

At SCTCC, we equip our students with the skills required to succeed in any career or academic path they choose. To ensure success, we teach students skills in algebra, trigonometry, and calculus.  Mathematicians need to understand and utilize skills other than math. Our Mathematics Transfer Pathway students will use critical thinking, problem solving, and apply mathematical principles to real-world problems.

With a degree from our Mathematics Transfer Pathway program, students have a variety of career options they can choose from for their future employment. Our graduates have worked as actuaries, college mathematics professors, high school mathematics teachers, and mathematicians.  By utilizing skills taught in SCTCC classrooms, we’ve had students work as natural sciences managers and statisticians. Our graduates even have opportunities in financial, business, insurance, information technology, and operations research analysts and researchers.  We equip our students with the skills necessary to succeed in any career path they pursue.

The SCTCC Mathematics Transfer Pathway associate’s degree fully transfers to a Mathematics bachelor’s degree program at any one of the seven Minnesota State universities. Our students have opportunities to further their education at Bemidji State University, Metropolitan State University, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minnesota State University, Moorhead, St. Cloud State University, Southwest Minnesota State University, and Winona State University. 

Whether you are looking to continue your education to become a professor, mathematician, or an operations research analyst, you are certain to find a school that meets your academic needs. Our program is designed to transfer to a four-year institution as we equip students with skills needed for success.
