Why Choose This Program

At SCTCC, we know that students have various interests along with academic and career goals. That’s why we have designed our program to benefit students in our mathematics program to support their interests and goals.

Mathematics is a useful undergraduate major for students who are not only planning on going into the field of mathematics, but also for students planning on pursuing higher-level degrees such as engineering, law school, and medical school. A mathematics degree from SCTCC can also help students in business, finance, and insurance.  Starting a mathematics degree at SCTCC allows students to form a foundation for a bachelor's degree at a much lower tuition rate and learn from instructors who offer a more personalized classroom experience.

From Degree to Career

When you choose the Mathematics Transfer Pathway degree at SCTCC, you’ll save money on your generals before transferring to get your bachelor's degree.  When a student completes their AA degree along with the Mathematics Transfer Pathway their entire Calculus series of classes will be complete. A student will be able to start Junior and Senior level mathematics courses at their four-year institution.

At SCTCC, we equip our students with the skills required to succeed in any career or academic path they choose. To ensure success, we teach students skills in algebra, trigonometry, and calculus.  Mathematicians need to understand and utilize skills other than math. Our Mathematics Transfer Pathway students will use critical thinking, problem solving, and apply mathematical principles to real-world problems.
