Accessibility Services’ Testing Policy and Procedure follows a student self-advocacy model, to support student self-efficacy and responsibility of their accommodations. The common accommodations that relate to Testing Policies/Procedures are: Alternative Format Test, Alternative Test Site, Extended Exam Time, Individual Testing Room, and Scribe for Exams. If you are unsure if your accommodations fall under “testing” please contact the SCTCC Accommodations Specialist at acc@sctcc.edu or in Room 1-452.
- Exams must be scheduled at least 3 business days before the testing date to ensure Accessibility Services gets a copy of the exam from the instructor in advance. If the exam is not scheduled 3 business days in advance, there is no guarantee that accommodations can be applied to that exam.
- Students are expected to be on time for their exams. Testing accommodations will not be granted if the student fails to show up within 30 minutes of their anticipated start time. The student’s instructor will be notified, and the instructor will determine if the exam can be rescheduled.
- It is the responsibility of the student to notify Accessibility Services should the exam be rescheduled for any reason.
- Exams may be scheduled as early as the student would like, but the student is responsible for contacting Accessibility Services with any changes in their testing schedule.
- Exams will take place on the same date and time as the rest of the class. There are two notable exceptions to this policy. 1) If a student has back-to-back classes and getting extended time on their exam would interfere with their ability to attend their other class, they are allowed to take it at another date or another time, that is approved by the professor. 2) If an exam is scheduled outside of Accessibility Services office hours, the student is allowed to take the exam at another date or another time, that is approved for the professor. As student accommodations are a federal right under disability legislature students are allowed to work with their professors to change the date and time of their exam in these two circumstances to get their accommodations in an equitable way relative to their classmates.
- Final Exams must be scheduled at least 5 business days in advance. If the exam is not scheduled 5 business days in advance, there is no guarantee that accommodations can be applied to that exam.
- All exams will take place between the hours of 8am and 4pm. All exams must be completed by 4pm.
- Students are expected to adhere to SCTCC’s Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure. Academic Integrity Policy & Procedure | St. Cloud Technical Community College (sctcc.edu). If a student testing in Accessibility Services is suspected of academic dishonesty, their exam will end immediately, and their instructor will be notified. Accessibility Services simply reports any instances of suspected academic dishonesty to the student’s instructor. The instructor makes all final decisions regarding academic dishonesty.
